I’m torn about this movie. I wish the teaser trailer would have released more, but I’m intrigued and disgusted at the same time. I think this movie has the chance to be good, but if the following full-length trailers have the same chances to turn out to be a huge dissapointment.

This is apparently based of a hot novel for young teens, which is not my demographic. Only time will tell. What are your thoughts?

The film is about Greenburg who tries to put his life back together right after being released from the nuthouse. This movie doesn’t look half bad, in fact it looks pretty sweet. I would definitely rather see this than any of the Twilight series. Tell me what you think!

Old Dogs Review

After a full meal of turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes, I plopped myself down in the space rocket-type chairs at the Union Square Regal theater to see the new Disney movie Old Dogs.

After watching the trailer for the movie, it seemed like it should be a must see family movie this holiday season. Now don’t get me wrong, if you have younger kids or are looking for a cheap, cheezy laugh, definitely go and check this film out.

From the beginning of this film I felt rushed as a viewer. There were frantic cuts everywhere, and it seemed like they were either trying to make up for a lack of good shots or were trying to speed through ALL of the beginning dialogue. This got better throughout the film, but even at the end there were some scenes that felt like they were being rushed through.

The plot didn’t see to flow very well. There were some awkward transitions and some really weird jump cuts that, if I had edited the film, I definitely would not have added.

The acting again felt a bit rushed, it wasn’t the normal comedic experience you expect from Robin Williams, but there were some moments where Mrs. Doubtfire truly showed through that made me laugh. John Travolta’s comedy seemed forced, but some of his scenes you can’t help but crack up at. As for Seth Green, I was surprised at how little he was actually in the film. He had maybe 5 scenes, but that might be pushing it.

I’d like to take this part of the review and dedicate it to Bernie Mac. He did an exeptional job in this film and I already truly miss his presence on the big screen. He was a fantastic actor and he has, and will continue to be greatly missed.

Overall this filmed seemed to be a bit rushed and forced, but I would be lying if I said it didn’t make me laugh. If you are looking for a film to make you chuckle, I would recommend this. The man behind me did shy away from blurting out that he had not laughed that hard in a long time. So if you don’t think you will be annoyed by the jumpy editing, or the mediocre acting, go see this film over the holidays.

Starwars Dethroned by New Moon for Advanced Ticket Sales

I never thought I would hear these words, but New Moon passed Star Wars Revenge of the Sith in pre order sales on Fandango.com. Now we didn’t see any tents set up outside theaters, but all of this was due to the internet.

Cinema Blend Says:

And today, the balance of power has shifted entirely– Deadline Hollywood is reporting that New Moon has sold the most advance tickets in Fandango’s history, surpassing Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It’s currently accounting for 86% of sales on the site, which is as much due to the massive appeal of the film as the fact that there’s nothing else out right now.

I would agree with them that there are no good films out to compete, but if you do head to see this over the weekend, be prepared to wait in some lines.

This would be the perfect weekend to see ANYTHING else, no lines, empty theaters, no crying babies.

Alice in Wonderland Poster

Finally Disney released a full on movie poster of Alice, from Disney’s 2010 sure to be blockbuster Alice in Wonderland. This film is star packed and should be a definite watch is March.

“Avatar” to Cost $500 Million

This week the New York Times published an article saying that the new James Cameron film “Avatar” is expected to have a $500 million dollar price tag once the film hits theaters.

If this statement is true, that means Avatar needs to make around $800 million at the box office, which will not happen… I’m sorry James, this movie is not Titanic.

Even with all of the accolades online, this film has no chance to top Transformers 2 or The Dark Knight. Whoever approved this budget better get fired. This is an extreme amount of money to spend on a mediocre script.

Although I am going to see this film, and I’m sure MANY others will, but I’m sorry to say, this movie will not break even. What do you all think?
